Until recently, Salim was Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of MetLife International, a three billion dollar line of business within MetLife, Inc. In this position, he had responsibility for managing all financial aspects of the business. In addition, he was Officer-in-Charge of Planning, New Business Development and Mergers & Acquisitions for MetLife International.
In his leadership role, Salim was instrumental in guiding the strategic direction of MetLife International, as well as strengthening the organizational integrity, effectiveness and controls of the business. Specific accomplishments include:
Salim also served as Member of the Executive Governance Board for MetLife International, Chairman of the Board for MetLife India, President Commissioner for MetLife Indonesia, and Member of the Board for MetLife Mexico.
Previously, as head of Global Mergers & Acquisitions for MetLife, Salim was involved with the assessment of over 500 potential deals and completed over twenty transactions with and aggregate value in excess of ten billion dollars. These include acquisitions, divestitures and joint-ventures of insurance, money-management and financial services related companies in the US, Latin & South America, Asia and Europe.
Salim is an accomplished business, insurance and finance executive. He started his career by attaining his Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries in 1978. He is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Affiliate of the U. K. Institute of Actuaries. He received his M.S. degree from the University of Manitoba, Canada, and B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of the Punjab, Pakistan.
